Penang Hill Bridge Canopy Walkway for The Habitat is an innovative double span bridge 230m long with 115 m spans. The design concept was designed and developed by ClearTech in conjunction with the developer Creative Quest from Hong Kong.
Cleartech Engineered Solutions proposed and
designed a smart solution
with a precast ribbon bridge with overall depth of 350mm for a span of 115m. The site itself posed many challenges and required an innovative solution. For the first time in Penang, caissons of 2.5m diameter were cast to 25m to rock. Cleartech’s design included the casting of the segments and moulds.
The Forth Replacement Crossing is a cable-stayed bridge which was to be constructed to the west of the existing Forth Road Bridge. The project is part of a package of transport improvements costing £1.45 to £1.6 billion and is on track to be delivered in 2016. The largest civil engineering project in Scotland for a generation, it will replace the current Forth Road Bridge as the main vehicle crossing of the Forth.
ClearTech Engineered Solutions scope was to provide Project Management and Technical Assistance, at Project Director level, to Cleveland Bridge UK, working with the international consortium consisting of Hochtief Solutions, American Bridge, Dragados and Morrison Construction.
The Mersey Gateway project was a major scheme to build a new six lane toll bridge over the Mersey between the towns of Runcorn and Widness that would relieve the congested and ageing Silver Jubilee Bridge.
ClearTech Engineered Solutions scope was to provide
Technical Assistance to the CJV Consortium on their Tender Submission for the project.
The project, on which we provided Temporary Works Design and Project Management, consisted of the construction of 1498 AASHTO beam using precast moulds in a purpose built casting yard. The yard required up to 12 moulds. The casting yard was based in a disused rail maintenance facility and has been laid out as a combined batching plant casting area and storage area.
ClearTech designed the casting yard for Leighton Construction Asia. The main challenges in this project related to the ground conditions at the casting yard and flooding in the area.
ClearTech designed the Gantry Rail as a continuous elastic beam, developing up ground improvement solution that reduced deflections on the beam, over the period of the project to +/- 5mm.
ClearTech's scope on this project - a Digester Tank for Dairygold in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork - was to design both the ground slab and tank walls using post tensioning.
The original slab was designed as a 350mm thick RC slab, redesigned to a 160mm thick PT slab on the ground - the first time ever in Ireland - and two of the biggest overall pour sizes ever completed in Ireland without expansion joints : 2500m2 /pour.
The final tank size is 78m diameter and 10m high walls (50million liters). Walls were cast in 4 quarters 10m high x 62.5m long. Walls were 400mm thick PT.
The construction of this warehouse and storage facility was part of a Eur10m extension of the East Jetty at Foynes Port in County Limerick which marked phase 1 of the Eur50m strategy to regenerate the port. ClearTech
designed a post-tensioned flat slab solution
with an approximate PT area of 3,852sqm.
